Here’s how to get set up on MyFitnessPal so you can track your food and share your food journal with me. You can use either the MyFitnessPal app OR the website on your computer. You do not need to use both.

OPTION 1: Use the MyFitnessPal App

  • Download the MyFitnessPal app from the App Store or Google Play and create a free account.

  • Once you’re logged in, use the Diary tab to start logging your meals, snacks and drinks each day.

  • Next, add me as a friend:

    • Go to More/Menu

    • Choose Friends

    • Choose Add Friends

    • Search for my username: joandandeneau

    • Send me a friend request

  • Make sure I can see your food diary:

    • Go to More/Menu → Settings → Diary Settings

    • Find the setting for Diary Sharing

    • Select Friends Only

  • Send me a quick message once you’ve sent the friend request so I can accept it and make sure I can see your diary.

OPTION 2: Use MyFitnessPal on Your Computer

If you don’t want another app on your phone, no problem! You can do everything from your computer.

  • Go to the MyFitnessPal website and create a free account or log into your existing account:
    https://www.myfitnesspal.com/

  • Use your Food Diary to log your meals, snacks and drinks each day.

  • Add me as a friend using my MyFitnessPal username:
    joandandeneau

You can manage friends here:
https://www.myfitnesspal.com/friends

  • Make sure your diary is shared with friends so I can see what you’re logging. Go into your account/settings and change your Diary Sharing setting to Friends Only.

A few important things to know

MyFitnessPal may automatically give you calorie and macro goals when you set up your account. Don’t worry about following those numbers. We’re primarily using MyFitnessPal as a tool to track your food so I can see what you’re eating and give you personalized feedback.

Log as accurately as you reasonably can, including portions, but it does not need to be perfect. And please don’t change what you eat because you know I’m looking at it! 😊 Seeing what you’re actually eating is what allows me to coach you and make recommendations that fit your real life.
