Tips for Exercising at Home on Zoom

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re joining us for Fit Zone classes. To help you get the most out of your workouts, I’ve put together some simple tips to make sure your experience is smooth, fun, and safe — no matter what device you’re using!

💻 Choosing Your Device

  • Laptop or Tablet: Easiest for seeing me clearly and adjusting your camera angle.

  • Phone: Works great — just make sure it’s propped up on something sturdy so you can see the screen while you move.

  • TV or Larger Screen: Some clients cast the workout to their TV using Chromecast or Apple TV. This can be a great way to see the workout on a bigger screen!

🔈 Sound Tips

  • Mute Yourself: This keeps background noise (pets, kids, etc.) from disrupting the class. I will push mute all when I start to record the class.

  • Speakers or Headphones: Bluetooth headphones let you move freely and hear me clearly. If using speakers, check your volume balance so you can hear both my instructions and any music.

  • Test It Out: Try a quick Zoom test meeting (Zoom has one at Zoom Test Link) to make sure your sound and video are working before class.

🎥 Camera Setup

  • Full-Body View: Position your camera so I can see your whole body during movements — this helps me offer better cues and support.

  • Lighting: Face a window or lamp so you’re well-lit. Avoid having bright lights or windows behind you, as they can make you appear too dark.

  • Optional: While I encourage keeping your camera on so I can check your form and cheer you on, please know it’s not mandatory. You can always choose what feels most comfortable for you!

📶 Internet Connection

  • Stay Close to Your Router: Fewer walls = better streaming!

  • Wired Connection: If possible, plug your device into the router with an Ethernet cable for the most reliable connection.

  • Limit Other Streaming: Ask others in your house to pause heavy streaming (like Netflix or gaming) during class if possible.

🧘‍♀️ Additional Tips

  • Keep your workout space clear of tripping hazards.

  • Have water and a towel nearby.

  • Let me know if you have any injuries or need modifications.
